St George’s Parish celebrates the 50 years of the Diocese of East Anglia
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Diocese, I have created a quiz for us all to find out more about our wonderful parish. Some of you may already know quite a lot but some of you may learn something new and interesting, especially those of you relatively new to the area.
Below I have come up with a number of questions to get you started and test what you know about the parish. How many can you answer?
I hope you all have fun playing along with me, taking this opportunity to discuss the history of the parish, and perhaps venturing to places you've yet to visit. This is the first part of celebrating the Diocesan Jubilee during 2026.
Be quick with the quiz though as we will be giving out the answers in February.
I look forward to hearing how you all get on and if you have any further interesting local places or stories I’d love to hear them.
Fred
Before you get started…
Here are a few hints and tips to help you get on your way to finding the answers you seek!
First of all- have a look at the map below, the numbers relate to places linked to the same numbered quiz question.
Secondly – talk to everyone else and share findings.
Thirdly - use a search engine like Google (other search engines are available).
Fourthly – visit the place – so no great surprise but Location 9 is our wonderful Cathedral – a visit there and a chat with guides or looking at the way things are labelled there will help. Similarly, the other churches included in other questions are worth visiting as they have their own history pamphlets.
Remember – try to tick off quickly the “Yes, I know that” so you can focus on the one’s that might elicit a “Wow! I didn’t know that”
Remember some of the answers (especially where there are two panels to a Location as with Nos. 4, 7, 8 and 12) may be woven into the description given.
